What I've Accomplished As Your Councilor

As the youngest member of the City Council, I focused my first year on getting things done. I believe leadership is about listening, following through, and solving problems that matter to residents. Whether it was major policies that shaped our city or small fixes that improved daily life, I worked to make Everett safer, fairer, and more welcoming for everyone. I helped make our neighborhoods safer and cleaner by responding directly to resident concerns. Working with neighbors, I pushed for new speed bumps, flashing crosswalk signs, and traffic monitors at high-risk intersections. When residents called about rats, I sponsored a pilot program on Beacon Street to test better control methods and expand them citywide.

I voted to place all of Everett’s opioid settlement funds into a dedicated account so they could only be used for prevention and recovery. I also helped secure over $700,000 in firefighter safety and hazmat grants, bringing new radios, marine rescue tools, and protective gear to first responders. These actions improved safety across the city while ensuring public funds were spent responsibly. Read more

I worked to keep Everett affordable for working families and seniors. I co-sponsored updates to the Inclusionary Zoning ordinance so developers must include affordable units in new projects, and supported closing loopholes in the Housing Linkage Fee to ensure developers contribute their fair share.

When residents raised concerns about overdevelopment, I voted to advance debate on a five-year moratorium for large projects so the community could be heard. I also co-sponsored resolutions requiring transparency about the Pope John property, advocating that it remain available for school use to meet our city’s classroom needs. Beyond legislation, I helped individual residents navigate housing issues, wrote letters of support, and connected families with housing resources. Read more

I believe the best investment we can make is in our young people. I voted to create the Everett Initiative Youth Council with one million dollars in ARPA funds, giving young residents direct funding and decision-making power to design community projects.

I supported grants and donations that expanded summer jobs, scholarships, and enrichment programs for students. To address school overcrowding, I voted to submit Statements of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for a new Everett High School and requested cost analyses for modular classrooms to provide immediate relief while long-term plans are developed. Read more

Everett should be a city where everyone feels welcome and included. I co-authored a resolution affirming our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and supported accessibility improvements across city programs and buildings, including the installation of a handicap-accessible ramp at City Hall.

When the City failed to mail out ARPA surveys, I stepped in personally. I printed, assembled, and mailed surveys in eight languages so Ward 5 residents could share their opinions on how federal funds should be used. I also sponsored a micro-transit resolution to improve transportation options for seniors and working families, helping address both parking pressures and mobility gaps. Read more

I supported investments that gave Everett more green space and safer places for families to gather. I voted for $1.3 million in funding for the Mystic Riverwalk Boardwalk to expand public access to the waterfront and approved over $1 million in park upgrades at Florence Street and Shapiro Park. I also supported new stormwater projects to reduce neighborhood flooding and protect our environment.

Through partnerships, I backed beautification efforts citywide, including the planting of 600 daffodil bulbs that brought color and pride to our public spaces.

I’ve worked to make sure City Hall remains accountable to residents. I voted to adopt Everett’s Hazard Mitigation Plan to keep the city eligible for federal disaster funding and helped redirect unspent school funds to repair the Webster School roof, saving taxpayers money.

I approved balanced budgets totaling $239 million while protecting reserves for future needs and supported the acceptance of over $5 million in grants for housing, health, culture, and infrastructure improvements. I also called for public reporting on overpayments and questioned city spending at the Wellness Center to ensure transparency and trust. Read more

My work doesn’t stop when the meetings end. I continue to answer calls, emails, and messages from residents about everything from tree trimming and street cleaning to housing concerns and community events. I volunteer regularly, attend neighborhood gatherings, and partner with local organizations such as the Everett Haitian Community Center and the Greater Malden Asian American Coalition to connect residents to resources.

For me, public service means showing up, listening, and following through, and I’ll keep working every day to make Everett a city that truly feels like home.
